The Daily LOL: The Hipster Hamster

This is probably the cutest thing you will see all day. Unless you were me and saw that puppy's face sticking out a car window on the street. But this comes pretty close.

National Crisis Has Been Averted!

Hooray fellow Lost fans!
Obama will NOT be giving the State of the Union address during the season six premiere of Lost (scheduled to air Feb. 8.

"I don't foresee a scenario in which millions of people that hope to finally get some conclusion in Lost are pre-empted by the president," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told AP today. He later added, "I assume it's a big deal at ABC." No word on when the State of the Union will actually be. (USA TODAY 1/8/10)

Now, we ALL of our questions will finally be answered and absolutely none of our most beloved characters will die. More like we're going to have many WTF moments, yell at Kate for being so goddamn indecisive, and see Sawyer with his shirt off/Jack cry at least once.

Crock Locke approves this message.

Why Lin-Manuel Miranda is More Awesome Than You

The hip-hop virtuoso, Lin-Manuel Miranda, performed at the White House Poetry Jam in early May this year, and I happened to stumble upon the video from that night. Here, ladies and gentlemen, is the reason why "Usnavi" will always be more awesome than you.

"The Jerk" and Jerkier Are Set to Host the Oscars

Yup, that's right. Entertainment's badasses Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin are set to host next year's Oscar ceremony. On March 7, 2010, Hollywood's heavy weights will hit the stage in a gladiator-style cage match where only one star will leave the Kodak Theater ...or they'll hand out some awards and make some topical jokes.

Steve Martin has hosted the Oscars twice in the past. But the Academy is hoping to bring a fresh personality with Alec Baldwin, who has hosted SNL a grand total of 14 times. BUT Steve Martin has hosted SNL 15 times. It's a shock either way that both actors' egos can fit into a venue as small as the Kodak Theater. But wait, it's LA, the city where anything can happen. Or is that New York? Oh well, let's just hope that it's not as boring as when Jon Stewart hosted the Oscars, twice.

"Sorry, Academy."

Starbucks Red Cups: Ringing in the Christmas Season

Peppermint Hot Chocolate or Gingerbread Latte?

(By ringing, I hope we mean ringing like ringing up at a cash register.) Yesterday, the Church of Starbucks revealed their annual red Christmas cups. Nothing says the holiday season like seeing people walking around with the festively decorated red cups instead of the usual white-green combo. And nothing smells like consumerism than releasing these babies the week after Halloween. Following suit with the rest of America, we have pushed the holiday season earlier and earlier into the year. I will not be surprised when one day we create a hybrid Halloween-Christmas. It's like staring into the face of a frightening Nightmare Before Christmas like holiday. And nobody wants Tim Burton to win. Right?

The Daily LOL: Gamer Bunny

If you don't get this joke, you obviously need to stop going out so much and spend more time sitting on the couch not having a life.

The Daily LOL: Feeding a Cat with Chopsticks

Ladies and gentlemen, here's your daily dose of cat ridiculousness. A cat on its hind legs being fed with chopsticks. Part of me thinks that this cat is a robot, but I have no way of finding out. Le sigh.

A Date with JGL on Saturday Night! ...Live

Live from New York, It's Joseph Gordon-Levitt! That's right, Hollywood's new Leonardo DiCaprio (even though they're together in the new movie "Inception") will be hosting SNL on Nov 21st. While others are out living their youth, I and other wannabe hipsters will be staying home to see the living sex that is Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Despite SNL's perpetual suckiness, I am looking forward to an hour entirely dedicated to getting JGL in drag. And especially looking forward to the 1-3 actually funny skits + Digital Short that will make it on the blogs Monday morning. If I don't die from lining up for Taylor Swift (hosting SNL on Nov. 7), I may possibly line up for JGL, too. Details coming soon. But in the mean time, watch this video of JGL excitedly announcing his host position on SNL.

To all who will read this absurd temple of knowledge:

Of course, I start a blog that not only is about media and the internets, but also contains a fully loaded food/media pun. But beware, this blog will not only hold the ridiculous announcements in the media that I consider news, but a great deal of memes and pictures of cats (not to mention a *few* grammatical errors). To all those who actually know me, I apologize in advance for wasting your time, but I hope I get at least a few chuckles out of you. And for the rest of the population, beware you are about to enter the inner sanctum that is my mind.

You have been warned.
